Instead of going to the Bolt Action tournament, as was my original plan, I spent the day preparing for the D-Day game at the club next week.
Colours blocked in on the hanomag. Tree bases painted. Troops undercoated and helmets and boots painted. Truck undercoated. Only got four more evenings to finish painting everything. Busy the rest of the time. Apparently hobby does not always come first. Who knew?
Spent my $20 tournament entry fee and $5 petrol costs on some static grass to match my grass mat, a couple of Napoleonic light infantry troops and some flank company infantry.
Day well spent, I think.

I dont have anthing to paint (for the game!) so I will spend this next week making a few more tree bases, and some other scenic bits, possibly.
Sounds like the Peninsular War is going to kick off. I needed to pick a new book to start reading today, and that may have done it for me, Bernard Cornwall it is......

Peninsular War? Interesting direction. I was thinking of the Waterloo campaign but Spain/Portugal if fine. Just been glancing through by book on Napoleonic uniforms and the accounts of Waterloo and Austerlitz.
Hmmm! Sharpe's Rifles! I may have a dvd to watch.

Sorry, I thought Peninsular War, as the Sharpe Books are mostly set in Spain and Portugal, and that's where most of my Napoleonic interest comes from. Uniforms seem to be a nightmare of variations though, I just know I am going to paint the buttons, epaulettes, or turnbacks the wrong colour and forever be the target of ridicule and scorn. And I've probably got the wrong type of uniforms for the Peninsular Campaign anyway........
On a positive note, I've had a chance to read through most of SDS, and its exactly what I was looking for. And my little 3x3 table is the perfect size for it.

It can be in whatever setting you want. Waterloo is just what I was thinking of. It can be in the Peninsular War, India, the Caribbean, North America.
While I do have a book on uniforms that goes into that sort of detail, I will not be painting to that level. My general paint theme will be RED.
I have ordered a box of British Flank Company Waterloo troops. Again, not worried about the details, they just look good.
Glad you like the rules. Unfortunately it means I am now going to have to read them again as I have forgotten most of what I learned.
Shout when you want to have a run through.
