Had a busy Sunday. Got the jigsaw out and cut about 8ft of river sections. Then cut and applied sand to around 20ft of roads. I think I will just paint the roads brown then I can use them on both the summer and winter tables.
Anyone know any good tips for painting rivers?

I just painted mine a darkish blue (an old GW one) with slightly lighter 'strips' at the waters edge and shallower areas. A thin gloss varnish would be the final finish, but I have never bothered. Some people hate blue rivers, claiming that most rivers are brown, which is correct, but I think just looks wrong on the table. Most of the colour actually comes from reflections when looking at water anyway, so a blue river just represents a nice blue sky. Unfortunately I dont have access to a better photo than this one, but you can sort of see what Ive done

Thanks for the tips.
I will probably go for a blue river. As you say a brown river would be more accurate but would not look right. Especially as my roads are going to be brown.
