after playing a couple of games I've decided to get into this game. As a starter I've got three battalia of foot, two units of commanded shot, six guns and four generals, so that's 150 models. I plan to paint them using this method Warlord ecw painting
anyone else tried this before? Im keen to test a few models, to make sure I'm happy with them, anyone got a tin of army painter strong tone? i reckon it's going to take me until June to get them all done, and then there's basing, and possibly adding a couple of cavalry units, and more guns. also got a few Saga crusaders to finish, and a few LOTR models too

That is a lot of work you have lined up. Please post some pictures of your progress. I would be keen to see them.
I enjoyed playing Pike and Shot at the Drury club and have thought about collecting a small force. Unfortunately I have four Bolt Action armies to paint first.

here's a pic of some models, before and after the dip the drummer on the left is just painted, the fifer in the middle has been 'dipped' and comes out pretty shiny. the drummer on the right has been sprayed with the 'matt anti shine' varnish in real life the drummer on the right doesn't look too dark, its more to do with the poor lighting of the pic, and that the one on the left is quite bright more pics of finished units will follow

and here's some artillery and the army, as of today, three battalia of musket and pike, two units of commanded shotte, two units of cavalry, four light guns and two medium guns. All in all I'm very pleased with the 'dip', but here's a few comments stir the 'dip' well before use once dipped turn the model upside down and let it drain for quite a while, 30 seconds to a minute per model, otherwise you can get a big black puddle round the models feet. It is also possible to remove excess dip with a paint brush let the dip dry for 24 hours, or more if possible an alternative to the dip is the Army Painter Dark Shade ink, gives a similar effect but isn't shiny and can be brushed on, but it can make the light colours darker than you might like have fun Jason

Nice work there. That is a good looking army.
Is that complete or will there be more?

I'd like there to be more, another battalia of foot, a couple more guns, some firelocks and then some dragoons would be nice. This lot comes to just over 700 points so it should be playable as it is.
maybe after BA2 and Dr Who are out....
